The basic division of the production of model parts into computer-controlled machines is determined by the type of data being processed. We distinguish whether this is a 2D dataset with a sheet-metal sheet drawing or 3D data file describing the mass of the modeling piece. In the first case, the input file of all devices is a vector drawing such as .dwg or more general .pdf, where the scraps of the material dividing lines are differentiated according to color or layer. In the latter case, the 3D data file is in .stl format, which can be exported from each 3D modeling program.
